Mount Barro is barely 1000 meters high, but it represents an important nature reserve that has since been made into a regional park. Deposits of various kinds can be found on the mountain, including moronic and fluvioglacial material.

Mount Barro’s main attraction is the exceptional variety of its flora, which numbers over 1000 different species. For several years the park of Mount Barro has been the subject of regular archeological digs that have led to the discovery of a large settlement and impressive defense system built by the Goths. The nature trail that runs through the park is viable in two hours and half and after few seconds is already possible glimpse panoramic views over Brianza.

Discovering the Monte Barro Park
A Journey in one of the most important natural park of Lombardy. A Mountain that combines nature, history, archeology and sport close to the city. Whether it is families with children or hikers this is the place for you.

Estimated time of visiting: from 2 to 4hr depends on the itineraries chosen to achieve the top of the mountain
Visit of “Centro Flora Autoctona”
It's an experimental station of the Lombardy Region with its head office at Parco Monte Barro. Its main objective is that of promoting activities that guarantee the availability of native plants for conservation and environmental recuperation projects.

Visit of the “Archaeological Museum”
Where remarkable artefacts (more than 400) are exhibited, found during the digs carried out by the park between 1986 and 1997 near Piani di Barra, and that brought to light the largest Gothic settlement discovered in Italy (V-VI centuries A.D.).

Visit of the “Ethnographic Museum of Upper Brianza”
Dedicated to customs and traditions of population who lived in the “Historycal Brianza”, a region on hills situated in province of Lecco close to Lake Como and Prealpi.

There are a several bars, restaurants and shelters for the visitors for a refreshment stop inside the park.
“Visit of the Ornithological Museum”
Situated on the summit of a moraine ridge that extends from the southern flank of the mountain, is housed in an old bird hunting lodge (roccolo), with origins at the start of the tenth century, bought in 1988 and converted by the Park into a centre for the study of bird migrations.

Visit of Villa Bertarelli
It was built in the early 1700's, It was purchased by the town of Galbiate and Park Monte Barro in 2003 becoming the park headquarters. Worth a visit the magnificent surrounding gardens and its centuries-old park.

It is one of the most popular in Lecco for the wide choice of itineraries, the beauty of the climb and the presence of numerous shots technically easy, very appreciated by beginners and pleasure-loving climbers.
