An urban centre between the mountains and the lakes

2 Days - For everyone
With its distinctively Mediterranean atmosphere, Lugano offers all of the benefits of a cosmopolitan city while preserving a small town spirit.
It is the third biggest financial centre in Switzerland and an important location for conventions, banks and business. It is also a city of parks and flower gardens. The historical squares and enchanting arcades in the city centre encourage visitors to take it easy and enjoy a coffee break. Magnificent views of the city, the lake and the surrounding mountains can be enjoyed from Monte San Salvatore and Monte Brè, which are the two peaks that stand tall over Lugano. A footpath leads down from Monte Brè to the village of Brè, which has preserved its quintessential Ticino charm and now also boasts a collection of refined artworks.

Alternatively, it is possible to go on a trip from Monte San Salvatore down to the delightful village of Carona, which is located on Lake Lugano, near Morcote. A journey back to Lugano by boat completes the circuit nicely. Finally, 300 km of mountain bike trails and cycle tracks, golf courses, lidos and beaches complete the range of options available in the city and the surrounding area.
